Our "Why"
For 20 years, serving my community has been at the heart of everything I do. I built my career in local government, holding leadership roles in civil and human rights, human resources, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. In 2018, I had the honor of becoming the City of Saint Paul's first Chief Equity Officer. At the core of all that work was a simple belief: people deserve access, they deserve to feel heard, and they deserve to belong. But alongside that career, I always had another love, creating experiences that bring people together.
There is something that genuinely lights me up about curating the moment that feels joyful, intentional, and memorable for the people in the room. For more than 15 years, I have been doing exactly that coordinating and producing weddings, galas, baby showers, campaign events, birthday celebrations, and community gatherings. What started as something I did for family and friends quietly grew into something I knew I was meant to pursue more fully. So when I stepped away from my position with the City of Saint Paul in January 2026, I made a decision I was going all in. That is when I officially launched Naomi Dru Events.
Naomi Dru Events is an event planning, coordination, and production company built around creating meaningful, well-executed experiences that bring people together. I specialize in day-of event coordination, event consultation, and full event production for weddings, conferences, community gatherings, and mission-driven events.
"Naomi" The name means everything to me. It is my daughter's name, my late sister's middle name, and my maternal grandmother's first name.
"Dru" is my middle name and my son's middle name. Before my sister passed away, we used to talk about starting an event planning business together — and we always said we would call it Naomi Dru.
Naming this company Naomi Dru Events is my way of honoring the women who shaped me and who now guide me, while also holding space for the woman my daughter is growing into. It is a daily reminder to live out my passions and to pursue the dream my sister and I once shared.
While I love supporting larger events like galas, fundraisers, and conferences, my niche is day of event production and coordination.
I have a real heart for clients who wants to plan their own event but need a trusted professional in their corner to bring it all together. My job is to manage the logistics, coordinate the vendors, keep the timeline on track, and make sure everything runs seamlessly — so that the host, or the couple getting married, can actually be present and enjoy every moment with the people they love.
Through Naomi Dru Events, I am building a sustainable, woman-owned business that produces beautiful, well-executed events and creates genuine opportunities for connection, celebration, and community.
